La Cascade
Transportation to and from the airport:
Durfort is about 70 km from the Toulouse airport in Blagnac. I suggest that everyone meets at the airport on the same day at a pre-arranged time. Departures should also be on the same day and not earlier than ten o’clock. If an early departure is unavoidable, I suggest booking a flight for the following day and staying at a hotel near the airport. If cars are rented, they are picked up at the airport. Since sight-seeing is such a part of the fun, I suggest that people car pool, two to a small budget car, three to a 4-door car, four to a larger car with plenty of space for luggage. (The amount of luggage is determined by tools and materials required by a workshop) It’s possible to take a shuttle from the airport to the bus depot in Toulouse and catch a bus to Revel and a taxi for the remaining 5km to Durfort. There’s also a shuttle (Navette) between the train station in Toulouse and the airport.
Driving directions from Toulouse Airport to La Cascade in Durfort, France
As you leave the airport, stay in the right lane; head toward “Toulouse”
Exit right at sign: “Bourdeaux, Albi”
You will cross a river. Prepare for a sharp right turn after the river onto a traffic circle, marked “Bordeaux, Paris, Albi”
Stay with middle lane to avoid exit lanes
Follow signs towards “Albi, Montpellier” (Albi peels off, you head for Montpellier)
Follow signs towards “Castres, Montpellier”
Follow A61 towards “Montpellier, Barcellone”
You’ll see “Cite de l’Espace” on the right side of the highway. A large rocket is the landmark. You’re close to your exit, # 18
Exit #18 marked “Labege, Revel, St. Orens”
Turn left at end of the off ramp onto D2 and follow signs to “Revel”
The suburban towns give way to open fields and small villages. Revel is about an hour’s drive.
4 kilometers past St. Felix Lauragais D2 ends at D622. Turn left and follow signs to Revel.
Go straight through the first two traffic circles.
At the third traffic circle, take a right at the third spoke leaving the Café de Commerce to your left.
Continue a short distance past a large church. You are on the road that circles Revel.
Make a sharp right turn at the sign for Soreze, Durfort, Dourgne on D85
Go about a mile to bridge “Pont Crouzet”. Go slowly over the second bridge and take a sharp right at sign D44 Durfort.
Follow D44 into town; pass Café Cyrano on right side
Continue one block further to church and park
Walk to right in front of church to the last street
Turn left at the last street
A few doors down on the right is 27 Rue des Martineurs
Thump the ancient knocker; you have arrived at La Cascade.
