I believe that the height of the “primary object” in art was achieved in the 1960′s so I’m either way out of date or riding the crest of a revival.
Some objects are more eloquent than others; my husband’s bass dominates the room with a presence that isn’t entirely due to its size. The Belgian hot chocolate pot in my last post also commands my attention and my eye is often drawn by the grace of a small porcelain vessel made by my friend Penina; but, I was truly surprised that the meat grinder that I pull out each year to make cranberry relish captured my imagination. I enjoyed drawing it in it’s various poses from different points of view. An expressive object par excellence.
When I opened the divided funnel, I discovered some interesting sculptural shapes. Very exciting!
